Rust in Peace (EP)

Do you feel like an abandoned building? with a shabby facade and the paint all peeling Do the shadows chase you in the streetlight's glare? and the trees putting roots down thru your hair. Have you ever been so low that you couldn't be found? by the basement wall where the damp runs down. That clock on your window never changes! and the mould on your ceiling looks contagious! Do you feel like Do you feel like Do you feel like an abandoned building? Are the people all around you whispering? cus they wanna replace you with a different thing. And their petitioning to take you off the maps! waiting for you to collapse... Do you feel like Do you feel like Do you feel like an abandoned building? So the leaves fall off another year. But you're unrepentantly still here. then, like the morning sun, the good news comes! that somebody new wants to take you on. Do you feel like Do you feel like Do you feel like an abandoned building?

Cold in the air of your building, and the windows steaming up. Kirsty MacColl on the radio as you do the washing up. I don't even know what road you live on, I don't know the way - somewhere down East London where the Libertines used to play. Late at night, when you're curling up at home, I'm chasing trains of thought around the streets out on my own. I watch the cars on the Westway shoot straight thru all the lights, but the East End Blues, they follow me around... follow me all night! Rattling along on the Northern Line on a long October night. Noone to see in the pub anymore so I go home (and turn on all the lights) and listen to the mix CD you made in 2008. I dig myself a dungeon and I lock the iron gate. I've lived this once before and it was so painful then! Now I've got to see the whole thing happening again! I watch the cars on the Westway shoot straight thru all the lights, but the East End Blues get stuck here... stuck here every night. They follow me around. The East End Blues. They get stuck here every night.

In the dark, in the rain, on the motorway again. Driving with my knees. Looking for a CD. Everyone on my mind that I'm leaving behind. Lost in confusion. Die with my boots on. Frost in my breakfast, running out of gas. Don't speak the language. And there's noone to ask. Lock the door cus there's nothing left inside. It's easy to leave. Hard to arrive. So there's the door, and this is the last .. time that you'll be more than just a photograph. There's the queue, and this is the last time you'll be more than a picture. Who's gonna fly across the sea, to pick my bones out of a ravine? When the moon is melting in the midnight heat. The insects go crazy, the town falls asleep. I got dust in my eyes, watching the sun rise. As the waves on the Atlantic travel half across the planet. While you rust in pieces, with a tape on repeat. In a concrete apartment, hemmed in by the sea. So there's the door, and this is the last .. time that you'll be more than just a photograph. There's the queue, and this is the last time you'll be more than a picture.
